Will WARDOGS Ban You for Farming Money? The Developer Drew the Line video

The short version: the developer’s stance on economy abuse is three tiers of punishment, and it is already being enforced. In the September 12 Patch 0.11 announcement, BULKHEAD attached a document titled Our Stance on Economy Abuse: abusing cash exploits gets a timed ban plus your cash and XP reset to zero, making a farming tutorial gets a permanent ban, and joining an XP farm server for more than a few minutes gets a permanent ban.

There is also an explicit grace boundary: “If you figure something out and test it once or twice, no biggy.”

So the practical rules for a normal player: do not join farm servers, do not spread farming methods, and report exploits through official channels.

Three tiers, quoted from the source

What you didConsequenceKey official wording
Abused a cash exploit or bugTimed ban, length based on any previous bans, plus cash and XP reset to 0“We will respond with a timed ban… We will reset your cash and XP to 0”
Made content that tutorialises an economy exploitPermanent banTreated as advertising cheats; the developer stresses “there is a difference between promoting and alerting”
XP farming (joining XP farm servers)Permanent ban (the harshest tier)“We track every server you enter, and we are also very aware of which servers are XP farming servers”

That third one is the easiest to trip over. The developer states that being tracked in one of those servers for more than a few minutes results in a permanent ban. You do not have to earn anything — showing up is enough to trigger it.

The grace boundary, in the developer’s own words

The policy does not treat everything the same. It draws a line:

“In the very early stages of finding these issues you may find yourself getting away with it, but it doesn’t take long for our backend data to flag abusers. Effectively, if you find something and you then keep doing it, over and over again, that is abuse of an exploit. If you figure something out and test it once or twice, no biggy, thanks for helping us QA.”

Translated into decision rules:

  • Find it, test it once or twice, report it: safe, and officially thanked.
  • Find it, farm it repeatedly for money: timed ban plus a cash and XP wipe.
  • Find it, publish it as a tutorial: permanent ban.

Punishment is only half of it: the incentives were removed

The other half is that the developer went straight at the reward structure so farming stops paying:

ItemChangePurpose
Selling low-value supply itemsPayout cut from 25 XP to 1 XPKills cheap-item XP farming
Supply crate purchase curveRescaled from 25-250 to 1-200Removes the farming value of low-tier items
Cash exploitsPatch 0.11 fixed severalCloses known cash-out routes
Community servers+5% end-of-match cash bonus that weekUses a positive incentive to pull players to sanctioned play

Look at it this way: the developer made farming unprofitable first, then came down hard on anyone who kept doing it. That is smarter than pure ban threats, and it also makes false positives far less likely for ordinary players.

Three questions to confirm you are safe

  1. Is your money coming from a bug or exploit rather than normal play? Normal, cash-rewarding actions include kills, revives, transporting friendlies, controlling the objective, driving logistics and unloading supply crates.
  2. Did you test it once or twice, or keep repeating it? The developer defines repetition as abuse. That test is qualitative and no threshold is published.
  3. Did you publish it as content? This carries the heaviest consequence, a permanent ban, and “I was just sharing it” is not accepted as a defence.

If any answer is yes, your risk level rises immediately. If all three are no, you have nothing to worry about.

The two things players worry about

First, whether permanent bans are too harsh. The related thread collected 458 upvotes and 219 comments. Most supported punishing farmers, but many argued that “join the wrong server, get permanently banned” is a hard line to draw, especially for new players who do not know the rules.

Second, whether this leads to real-money trading. Community posts worry that if farming scales up, account and currency sales will follow. That is currently a player concern only — the developer has said nothing about real-money trading, so it must not be written up as fact.

Worth noting: the policy ends by asking players whether they agree with the stance or think it should be adjusted. In similar situations, that question is rarely asked.

Sources and boundaries

The full three-tier policy, the “test it once or twice” grace line and the “we track every server you enter” wording all come from the official statement Our Stance on Economy Abuse, published with Patch 0.11 (2026-09-12) and archived in the Steam announcement feed. The supply item payout and crate curve changes come from the Season 1 changelog (2026-09-09) in the same feed and were cross-checked against a third-party line-by-line breakdown at allthings.how. The sanctioned cash-earning loop comes from the official Steam store description. Player concerns come from the Reddit r/WarDogs thread.

The developer has not quantified how many repetitions count as “over and over”, so this page quotes the policy rather than guessing a threshold. It also publishes no exploit details, no reproduction steps and no farm server names. Cheating and anti-cheat are a separate rule set — see cheaters and anti-cheat. The embedded video is a creator breakdown of per-class XP efficiency (M0dhrSMKfLs) and is third-party content, not an official position.
